Communities who want to make change locally

You are rooted in your place — connected to the people, the land, and the future of your community. Whether you’re a small, grassroots group just getting started, or an established community business ready to grow, you share a common drive: creating lasting benefits close to home.

We work with communities like yours to turn vision into action — supporting projects that strengthen local identity, unlock opportunities, and build resilience.

You might be:

  • An informal interest or campaign group
  • A Community Interest Company (CIC)
  • A Community Benefit Society
  • A Charity
  • A Cooperative
  • Or any other asset-locked organisation

Planning for your committee’s future generations

Every strong project needs a clear plan — something you can share with funders, partners, and your own community to show what you want to do and how you’ll do it.

We’ll work alongside you to create a practical, easy-to-understand business plan that feels like yours.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • How your land will be cared for and stewarded
  • Who will be involved and what roles they’ll play
  • Ways you can bring in income to keep things going
  • The steps and timing that will make it all achievable

By the end, you’ll have a plan you can take to funders with confidence — and a roadmap that helps your community move forward together.

Making the numbers work

Every project needs a simple picture of the money — what’s coming in, what’s going out, and what you’ll need to get started. We’ll work with you to create an easy-to-use financial plan that funders can trust and your community can understand.

Together, we’ll look at:

  • How much money you’ll need to buy the land
  • What it will take to improve or care for the site
  • The income you can expect to bring in
  • The everyday costs you’ll need to cover

We’ll also help you think about where the start-up funding might come from — often a mix of grants, social investment loans, or community shares (for co-ops).

By the end, you’ll have a clear, practical financial plan that gives funders confidence and helps your group make informed decisions.

Getting the right structure in place

Strong groups are built on good foundations — clear ways of working together, and structures that support your purpose rather than get in the way.

We’ll help you:

  • Understand and choose the right legal setup (charity, co-op, CIC, etc.) for your project
  • Explore healthy alternatives to “traditional” governance — like sociocracy, holacracy, cooperation, or democracy — that can make decision-making more inclusive and effective
  • Shape simple systems and processes that keep things transparent, fair, and manageable
  • Match your governance approach to the type of land business you’re developing

By the end, you’ll have a structure that feels right for your group, supports your values, and gives funders and partners confidence in how you work.
