Quinta Village

Barnet, London

Introduced through the London Tree Ring Project, Common partnered with the Quinta Village Green Residents Association to help safeguard their most valued local spaces. Following a site visit, we identified a strategic opportunity to secure the local Village Green and a derelict Village Hall as Assets of Community Value (ACV).

We successfully guided the community through the registration process, granting them a formal “Right to Bid” and protecting these sites from private sale. We are now working alongside the Association to secure the funding needed to restore the Village Hall and return it to the heart of community life.

Area: 2.5ha

Bioregion:

Existing land use: Derelict Village Hall and Village Green

By bringing together community vision, private finance, and Local Authority support, this project is a model for community-led regeneration. We are working to co-produce a transformed Village Hall that supports the objectives of the Barnet Local Plan. With its strategic location bordering the Totteridge Fields Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) and the London Loop, this site offers an incredible opportunity for residents to co-design a space that integrates nature recovery with local social infrastructure.

The Quinta Village Green Residents Association is a dedicated community collective focused on safeguarding and revitalising local green spaces and heritage assets in Barnet. They are actively exploring different asset-locked governance structures as they look to develop the Quinta Village project.
Common is not currently engaged in funding of this site, but it is hoped the community may be able to secure the land through the Community Asset Transfer mechanism and they are exploring aligned funding options such as the Greater London Authorities Green Roots Fund.
